Wedding Guidelines/Requirements

Residency

The Government of the Bahamas requires a 24 hour residency period before you can apply for your marriage license. 

Necessary Documents

  • Photo Id - Valid Driver's License
  • Certified copy of your birth certificate or valid passport
  • Affidavit of Parents consent if under 21 years of age
  • Certified copy of original divorce decree, if divorced
  • Death certificate of spouse, if widowed
  • Translations and certifications of documents are client’s responsibility
  • No blood tests required
How to book
  • Contact The Wedding Place at info@weddingplacebahamas.com or call us at 242-325-3581.
  • On your  indication that you wish to use our services, a non-refundable commitment fee of $500.00 will be required, and will be applied to your wedding contract.
  • Once you have determined the type of celebration you would like to have, we will prepare a Projected Costing and Contract outlining all services requested and cost.
  • Sign the contract and return it to us along with a 25% deposit so the necessary reservations can be made.
  • A US$ cashier’s check is the preferred form of payment but we can facilitate a credit card payment, however at 4.5% additional to cover processing.
  • Wire transfer
  • We apply a 20% service charge to value-added features e.g. florals, upgrades on photography, video packages, musicians etc.
Confirmation of Booking

A confirmation of all arrangements will be sent to you and the balance of payment will be due 30 days prior to the wedding date.  Final documentation will be forwarded to you upon receipt of full payment. 

Booking Amendments

If you wish to alter your booking after it has been confirmed to us, we will do our best to satisfy your wishes. However, this might not be possible without an assessed charge, depending on requests and time frames.

Upon Arrival to The Bahamas 

Your designated Wedding Planner will contact you, by phone, at the hotel to confirm all appointments with the Government Offices and arrange a time to meet.  She will be responsible for all on-site arrangements and to answer any questions you might have.

Other Information

Citizens of certain countries will require visas to enter The Bahamas.  Call your Bahamas Tourist Office @ 1-800- 4Bahamas for details.

English is the official language of The Bahamas and local currency and US$ are accepted everywhere at par with B$.
